Note: Arline “Spike” Kenow, age 97, formerly of Faribault, entered heaven on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodbury Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Visitation will be held for one and one half hour prior to service at church.

Arline was born December 28, 1925, in St. Paul, the only child of Armsted and Erna Mills. Arline’s father gave her the nickname “Spike” when she was young, and she has been Spike to family and friends ever since. Her parents owned a nightclub in Cannon City called “Mills Night Club” where she would wait on tables and enjoyed talking with the patrons.

She attended grade school in Cannon City and met her husband, Ray, at Faribault High School. They were married on June 30, 1946, after Ray was discharged from serving in the Pacific with the United States Navy. Ray and Spike moved to St. Paul in 1962 where she worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a cost accounting clerk until she retired at the age of 60.

Spike loved to dance, from the age of 5 when she started tap dancing. She was a very social person and had a passion for listening to music, dancing, gardening, and hosting gatherings for family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In their retirement, Arline and Ray bought acreage in Welch and were one of the first people to cultivate a vineyard in Minnesota. They became charter members of Northern Vineyards Winery in Stillwater.

She was a woman of strong faith in God and she and Ray were members of Woodbury Lutheran church for many years.

Known as G.G. by her grandkids, she missed being a great great grandmother by eight hours with the birth of Hudson to Hannah and Andrew Glowacki - the circle of life continues. Spike was loved by so many people and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Charles (Renee) Kenow, Anne (Dave) Tynan and Rebecca Kenow; grandchildren, Kelly (David) Hendricks, Nicole (Chad) Whiterabbit, Cortney (Brett) Heerwald, Danielle (Grant) Hoel and Sarah Tynan; great grandchildren, Nick, Hannah, Peyton, and Blair Hendricks, Lauren, Ryan and Colton Whiterabbit, Micah, Levi, Sophia Heerwald, Eden and Hope Hoel.
