Which Kienows Are My Kienows?

Several researchers share the name Kienow. Most of us have traced their family tree to an ancestor in Pommern, yet we have not been able to link all the trees together. They arer grouped by where they settled in the US after immigrating.

Pommern

Gottlieb Kienow (Kaynow) (1773 - 1837) - Anna Maria Buss

  • Married in Meesow, Regenwalde, Pommern on March 4, 1802
  • We have found records of 10 children for Gottlieb and Anna, 2 before they were married in 1802, and 1 born just months (in November) after they were married 
  • Parents of Carl Friedrich and Ludwig August - tying these 2 branches together!  (Kienow-Zarling and Kienow-Steffen)

Wisconsin

  • Janesville

    • Carl Eduard Kienow (1825 - 1885) - Frederika Sophia Höst 
      • Carl and Frederika were married in Rosenfelde, Pyritz, Pommern in 1850
      • They arrived in New York City on May 26, 1858
      • Carl Eduard and Frederika Sophia settled in Janesville, Wisconsin in about 1870, after stops in Watertown, Farmington, and Fort Atkinson.

    • Carl Friedrich Kienow (1811 - ????) - Caroline Zarling
      • Arrived in the US in 1874
      • Their descendants include the Burnett Township Kienows (Kienow/Schroeder), the South Dakota Kienows (Kienow/Bartz), and the Nebraska Kienows (Kienow/Vorpahl)

      • Emilie was the daughter of Ludwig and Wilhelmine
      • Researchers: Don Wood
    • Wilhelm Kienow (1848 - 1903) - Bertha Bartelt, Henrietta Stark
      • Born Carl Friedrich Wilhelm in 1846
      • Wilhelm is a son of Ludwig and Wilhelmine and a brother to Emilie
      • Bertha died in Pommern
      • Wilhelm and Henrietta arrived in 1883

      • Emigrated in 1856
