Notes

Note:
Henriette gave birth to a daughter, Ida, on Oct. 1, 1883, about 5 months after arriving in Faribault.

Church records at Trinity show Henriette as one of the baptismal sponsors of Bertha Maria Martha Wolf, b JAN 1884, bap. 17 FEB 1884 who later married Frank Steffen. Henriette died on Jan. 1, 1886 at the age of 38. In the Rice County records a death of Hernetta (sp) Stark is shown for this date. I do not know why there is discrepancy in names but I believe they are the same person. However, we do not know where she is buried. Her name does not appear in the database of John Dalby who has recorded all the burials in Rice County. We also read that Faribault was hit by a blizzard at that time that dropped 16 to 32 inches of snow. There was considerable amount of drifting of the snow so it took several days to dig out. Even trains were unable to run. William became a widower for the second time, with 5 children to care for, ages 15 to 3.

In July of 2003 I talked to Scott Boldt of Faribault about a grave for Henriette Stark Kenow and whether she could be buried in Maple Lawn Cemetery in the Pofahl grave site. (Section U Lot 16). The grave for Ferdinand and Friedrike Kienow Pofahl is marked. Other burials are there - not marked. She could be buried there. Nothing is listed in the records at Maple Lawn for her burial. I also had written to Oliver Stark who forwarded my letter to John Dalby. John wrote back that he checked his records every way he could but did not find any record of her burial place.

Her death is recorded in the church records of Trinity:
Born: 18 APR 1848
Buried: 3 JAN 1886
Lodesurfache (Cause of death?) Magenleiden (Stomach ailment?)
Funeral text: 1 Tim 6:6
Die hinterlassen (Survivors) Spouse Wilhelm Kienow and five children
